South Hill, VA is a small rural town in southern Virginia with a population of approximately 4,500. Although South Hill boasts a long and proud history of small-town politics, the current political landscape is dominated by local representatives from both major parties. The town council consists of six members elected at large who are responsible for the direction and management of the town’s affairs. South Hill also elects two mayors every two years to represent the people in local government affairs. Local elections are held throughout the year to select the members of each branch of government. Over the years, South Hill citizens have been known to take their civic duty seriously as they make sure their voices are heard on issues that affect them locally.
